I have always listened to Elton John ever since I was a small child. To be honest I never truly understood what a legend he is and why he has the honor of being a "Knight" until I had a chance to see him live in concert at the Baltimore Arena. He is a true performer who has mastered his craft. He started the show off on a mellow and wonderful mood as the sold out crowd was settling in for his solo performance. He began with mellow songs such as The Greatest Discovery. The amazing thing that came across during this song is that although it was a one man show with no back up singers or other musicians, the music filled the arena with incredible richness and variation. It felt as though there were many musicians playing. That is a tribute to Elton John's talent and what he can make the piano do. As the crowd started to get more comfortable in the Arena, Elton John gradually started to turn up the heat of his music by moving to songs such as Daniel. The crowd was loving this, almost everyone was singing along with this song and in total ecstasy. He even turned up the notch another degree by following Daniel with Get Back which got every person in a frenzy. Then came an extended version of Rocket Man which featured long segments which were piano compositions which weren't on the album version. Elton John performed this 3 hour plus concert with no breaks which kept the momentum going throughout the show. He didn't hold a thing back and performed most of his songs that people almost cry for. Some of the other memorable songs that he performed were Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word, Candle in the Wind (which he dedicated to the disadvantaged people of the world), Don't let the Sun go Down on Me and Levon. He also performed a recent song Written In The Stars which is a duet with Leann Rimes (she wasn't there). This song was received well by the crowd.

The crowd absolutely was in love with Elton John and chanted for him to perform 3 encore
appearances. In his encore appearances he performed Circle of Life, Crocodile
Rock, Bennie and the Jets which gave the crowd what it had asked for. If I
had to rate Sir Elton John's performance on a heat index I would say he was hotter than
lava. And if I was to make a comment to people it is: Elton John is a living legend and one
of the best performers of our time. I can't keep from comparing him to fine wine, he has
ripened with age and just keeps getting better with each passing day.
